i usually get depressed by his works, they are adorable pieces of art
kathe kollwitz is a woman from germany. she expressed her direct emotional experience in her art and found many different ways to represent the human body. finding these works of art adorable or depressing does not convey the depth with which she felt them nor how we should feel them.
I find Kathe Kollwitz’s art utterly compelling.
A visit to the K K museum in Berlin leaves one a changed person. Art for me is about changing one’s mood. Not necessarily about lifting one’s mood.
But her dark works still give me the frisson that art sometimes can.
